Total Hazardous and Integrated Solutions [THIS] was established as an independent company in 2013, providing quality specialised mercury-related project support and solutions to the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Marine industries.
THIS offers a focused range of services and chemical technology in support of our customers throughout the world, and holds contracts for the provision of Mercury Management Services both offshore and onshore across SE Asia and Australia.
THIS was founded and developed upon military-grade chemical decontamination practices and methodology, building on that with internal and third-party research and development to evolve chemical technologies, analytical methods, proprietary equipment and decontamination applications. That evolution has earned THIS its place at the forefront of industrial mercury management and decontamination, alongside complementary capabilities for other toxic and hazardous contaminants.
THIS has over 25 years of history in hazardous waste management, and our founding principal has more than 30 years of experience in the field.

Radiation Professionals Australia
Radiation Professionals Australia (RPA) delivers radiation management across the mining, petroleum and industrial sectors. Its capabilities cover NORM and TENORM in oil and gas, industrial radiation gauges, subsea detection and pig tracking, radioactive waste management and transport, laboratory analysis, compliance auditing, radiation management plans, decommissioning support, and both classroom and online training, delivered by licensed Radiation Safety Officers.
Since joining the Group, RPA has inherited the THIS expertise in mercury and hazardous decontamination, so a single team now covers the radiological and the chemical side of a decommissioning scope rather than splitting them between contractors. RPA and THIS operate a licensed yard in Western Australia for the decontamination of tubulars and the temporary storage of NORM waste.

Decontamination Facilities
Hazardous Decontamination Facility, Rayong, Thailand
Ban Chang HazMat Decontamination Facility Banchang, Rayong, on the Eastern Seaboard. A licensed 105 and 106 facility including mercury decontamination, operated under full chain of custody.
Workshop & Offices 800 sqm environmentally sealed workshop and 480 sqm of office space, with sheltered laydown for received assets and treated material awaiting release.
API Sumps & Groundwater Monitoring Three-phase API closed drain sumps collect all yard drainage, with sonde monitoring points before and after the filters, and overflow captured to a 77,000 litre double-walled underground tank. The site is laid out so drainage falls to the sumps at the low corner, away from the wash bay, waste segregation and storage areas. Groundwater wells around the site are sampled and monitored by an independent third party.
Environmentally Sealed Yard The 6,000 sqm yard is 100% concreted over a dual impervious layer, with individual sections separately bunded so each activity is contained on its own.
Waste Storage Tanks Storage tanks sit inside a high-wall bunded area served by its own closed drain sump.
Indoor Decontamination Bay Reinforced concrete floor, drain sump and perimeter walls with dual impervious layers and high molecular weight polyethylene shielding, chemical splashproof curtains, and floor, drain and ceiling vapour extraction.
On-Site Laboratory QA/QC, efficacy monitoring and optimisation of decontamination chemicals, with sample screening and verification carried out on site.
THIS operates its own licensed Hazardous Decontamination Facility [HDF] at Banchang, Rayong, on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard. The HDF is a fully licensed 105 and 106 facility, including mercury decontamination, environmentally sealed and operating as an integrated chemical cleaning and recycling facility: transportation, segregation, classification, neutralisation, volume reduction and encapsulation prior to managing final disposal of solid and liquid wastes through licensed facilities. Transport is carried out on our own Ror Aor 8 licensed HIAB crane trucks.

Service provision includes full Chain of Custody (COC) documentation in compliance with OSHA, the Pollution Control Department, DIW (Department of Industrial Works) and DMF (Department of Mineral Fuels) regulations and best practice.

Personnel Certification
All personnel performing on-site work hold appropriate certification, including BOSIET, offshore medical certification, Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) and Confined Space Entry (CSE). Personnel undertaking mercury-related tasks are subject to pre- and post-project biological screening for mercury in urine and blood.
