Most petrochemicals plants and refineries utilize
available steam and nitrogen to decontaminate the process equipment during shutdown and maintenance works. However,
these techniques require longer time periods and are ineffective where there are high levels and amounts of mercury present.
Using specialty
decontamination chemicals shortens this time and assures higher levels of safety during
and after the procedure.
Steam and/or Nitrogen are totally ineffective in removing mercury in this manner and our
experiences and track records have proven that
applying the appropriate decontamination chemicals, into the existing steam purge phase, will increase the
performance capabilities of the purge and eliminate mercury from the system by stabilising it as a soluble salt.
With little equipment and much less manpower than usual, the chemicals are designed to work against the contaminants rapidly and effectively to dramatically reduce down
time.
